I am extremely passionate about my profession, and I take great pride in giving my patients the finest quality dentistry and service. Medicine and dentistry are constantly changing and I believe education is vital to keep up with the latest technologies, methods and materials. My care is driven by education and continuing to learn and grow throughout my career. My goal is to improve oral health through science, creativity and continuous education. My wish is to save every tooth I can, and I want all my patients to have a great smile that they are proud to share with the world.
My family is my greatest achievement, and I enjoy spending time both at home and traveling with my wife and two daughters. I enjoy tennis, hockey and going to the gym.

I truly love my job. Many people have a very real and significant fear of the dentist. I enjoy surprising people every day that it can be a truly painless, quick, and enjoyable experience - with some fun and fascinating technology worked in! My goal is to create positive experiences and beautiful results, where people feel connected to a sense of pride in their health and smile. This requires ongoing advanced learning and investment in order to offer the latest innovations and highest level of care available today. More than anything it requires earning people's trust and doing good work, for good people.
I love working with our incredible staff who are committed to the same mission of educating patients, creating laughter, and making people healthier and instilling confidence. I could not be more proud to work alongside them.
I grew up in Wild Rose, WI, and my wife in New Ulm, MN, but we really found home here in La Crosse and love it here. I enjoy spending my free time with my two young boys, working outside on our land, gardening, and woodworking.

From a young age I thought a lot about how I wanted to be able to achieve a work life balance, while pursuing my passion with a career in health care. Becoming a dentist has allowed me to care for the oral health of patients while also being a wife and mom. My goal when I meet our patients is to focus on today and to look forward, giving them specific ways to improve their oral health, and guiding them to make their own decisions. I know our bravest patients are the ones who have fear, but are able to overcome this and walk through our doors because they know we will treat them with empathy and compassion.
Enjoying daily life with my husband and 2 teenage daughters is my greatest joy. I recently surprised myself and my family by starting a small garden (mostly herbs) and also am now drinking coffee for the first time in my life. I continue to enjoy baking, yoga, my hammock, campfires, and homemade pizzas on our grill.
Dr. Robert Saphner, D.D.S.
I strive to make my patients feel more at home in the dental office. I come from a long line of healthcare workers but it was the unique mix of technical skills, science-based care and personal connections with patients as to why I am passionate about dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, my father and my mother are both originally from La Crosse. I love the changing seasons on the river. I grew up hunting and fishing with my grandfather on the river. I love growing tomatoes with my grandma in the summer. Weekends in winter you may see me try my hand at skiing. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and my new Labrador Nyx.

I love being a dentist. With each new day I feel blessed to be a part of such a welcoming and enthusiastic team! I'm passionate about providing painless and empathetic dental care, and I enjoy educating patients on the newest advancements in dentistry, prevention, and conservation for a lifetime of health and function. I believe that connecting and gaining trust with patients is essential to provide the best possible outcome, and understand that our patients also come with their own experiences, emotions, and perceptions. Providing gentle oral surgery and implant placement is the best part of my day, though I find that offering a complete mix of dental services gives me the greatest satisfaction. We know today that oral health is vital for whole body health, but I also feel that we are providing a valuable service in our community, and I find it fulfilling to work hard and create a comfortable and positive environment for all.
Outside the office, my greatest joy is spending time and having adventures with my 3 year old son. I love music, reading, traveling, and culture, and enjoy spending as much time as possible in nature. I was an Academic All-Big Ten wrestler for the University of Iowa from 2003-2007 and have been an active singer/songwriter for almost 20 years.
